Hilltop Newsletter: Thursday 31st October, 2024/2567

Today, Thursday 31st October, is a New Moon day (second New Moon in October).

The next Uposatha Day will be a Full Moon, and falls on Friday, 15th November, 2024.

Current residents at the monastery are: Luang Por Munindo, Ajahn Punnyo, Ajahn Mahachomgaew, Ajahn Thee, Tan Samacitto, and Tan Attannyu.

On Sunday 13th October Luang Por Munindo gave a talk titled, Balancing of Wisdom and Compassion. The talk was in response to a question about the different emphasis put on suffering and compassion in the Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist traditions.

The annual post-Rains-Retreat Robe-Offering ceremony took place on Sunday 27th October. Since we had five monks living here for the retreat we were able to have a full Kathina. This year’s joyous occasion was led by friends and supporters in the Burmese community. A large gathering of monks and nuns from our other monasteries also joined us. The talk given by Luang Por Munindo on the occasion was titled, A New Religious Paradigm.

A new VIMEO channel has been launched – https://vimeo.com/arunaratanagiri – offering a selection of teachings given at the monastery.
