‘Keeping things simple’ and ‘being simplistic’ are not the same thing. The former is an intelligent approach to life and the latter is avoidance. The myriad changing conditions we all face on a daily basis, can make life seem very complex. But if we skillfully train attention, our awareness can remain open, sensitive and receptive, without our becoming distracted and confused by the conditions. There is an art in maintaining flexibility without being irresolute. Or, to view it from the opposite perspective, to being focused without becoming rigid.
