Getting to Harnham

From Newcastle the monastery is a 30 minute drive on the A696 (see map)  Go past the airport, through Ponteland, then continue to Belsay. About one mile beyond Belsay you will see the lane signposted for Harnham on the right. Coming by bus there is a 40 minute journey followed by a 10 minute walk from the bottom of the lane. It is also possible to take the Metro to the airport and from there to take a taxi.

National Express Coaches run three or four services per day along the A696 between Edinburgh and Newcastle. They do not stop at Harnham. They may stop at Belsay on request.
