Booking Procedure
Please write to
us stating the
dates when you would like to visit. If it is not possible for you to
stay at the monastery there are two guest houses nearby for those
with transport.
Support for Aruna Ratanagiri monastery is entirely obtained by
alms-offerings in the form of food, money or personal skills. There
is no obligatory charge to stay here. Guests can consider how they
may respond to the needs of maintaining the monastery.
Guests should be aware that the community eats only before midday,
in keeping with Buddhist monastic discipline. Initial visits are
generally for three nights.
Additional Information:
If possible (depending on whether you drive or come by public
transport) please try to bring the following:
a set of working clothes
towel and toiletries
an alarm clock
waterproofs and walking boots are recommended
sleeping bag liner or bed linen (to assist in saving washing)
easily removable shoes (outdoor shoes are never worn inside the
monastery)
In accordance with monastic training guests are asked to take
responsibility for their living space, cleaning it before leaving
and preparing it for its next inhabitants.
